Rights
Sophie is me. I work in the Rights department and go to book fairs and look up contracts with important information on them. In real life, I am in colour.
Anna
Publicity
Anna works in the publicity department. She is the only other character that is based on a real life person. I have ruined her career.
Claire
Editorial
Claire is the editorial department of this totally fictional publishing house. She is constantly exposed to the slush pile which breaks her heart everyday.
David
Sales
David works in the Sales department. He has given up trying to talk about sports with any of his colleagues.
Dee
Marketing
Dee works in Marketing. She has a cat named Mr Chaplin which she doesn’t bring to work but I thought you might like to know about it.
Rachel
Design
Rachel works in design and creates the covers for all the books produced in this totally fictional publishing house. Like most designers, she never aimed for a job in a publishing house but now she’s stuck here.
Pip
Desk-Ed
Pip works in Desk-Editorial. She’s a proof-reader and handles all the really fiddly bits of the English language. It’s a mysterious profession conducted in near silence.
